Sveriges dödbok 1901-2009

Updated Version! The Sveriges dödbok 1901-2009 CD contains a database of records for individuals who died in Sweden between the years 1901 and 2009. The information was taken from Swedish tax records. If you are familiar with genealogy research in the United States, you can think of it as Sweden's "Social Security Death Index," and it is an equally important source for genealogical information.

This fifth and newest version of the CD contains records for 7.88 million individuals who died during the period 1901 to 2009. This edition has been updated with 2.5 million new records for the period 1901-1946 (70% if the dead for that period), added with the help of volunteers from the "Name the Dead" project. All deceased for the period 1947 and onward are included, with 272,000 new records for the period 2007-2009 added since the last version. Data contained in the records includes:
  • personal identification number
  • first and last name
  • street and postal address
  • place of birth (for 88% of the records)
  • date of death
  • place of death
  • marital status (including date of last change)
  • maiden name (for women deceased before 1970)

The CD is bilingual Swedish/English. Just click on the appropriate flag at start-up to work in the language of your choice. This CD is an important addition to the source library of any researcher of Swedish genealogy.

System requirements are Windows 98 or higher and 980 MB of free hard disk space.
