Have a place name in Sweden amongst your genealogical data, but do not know where it is? Are you unsure if it is the name of a farm, a village, or a parish? This CD can help! Svenska ortnamn (Swedish Place Names)contains over 410,000 cities, towns, villages, farms, bodies of water, and geographical features. Enter the place name and search results will turn up matching names, identifying where they are in Sweden and what category of place they are (farm, village, parish, etc). Searches can be restricted by county, municipality, or parish and/or by place category. If you are unsure of the correct spelling you can search on partial words, either by entering these word-parts in the appropriate field or selecting them from a drop-down box. The CD is in the Swedish language, but is really quite accessible for English-speaking researchers. A great resource for genealogists or students of history!
