Book: Doors of Old Stockholm

Artist Terry Leblanc has long been captivated by the architecture and architectural details of Stockholm's Old Town (Gamla Stan). As she created artwork of the interesting doors in this old city, she became curious about the history behind them. This book combines her artwork of these doors and snippets of related history that she was able to find.

It makes for a fascinating read and a beautiful keepsake. Included in the book are reprints of Terry's original mixed media art of each door, some history or stories, and small illustrations that tell more. The doors selected date from the 11th century through to modern times. Each is interesting architecturally and has charm and/or magnificence. Bring the book with you when you tour Gamla Stan and follow the map included on page 5 to visit all of the doors. Looking for the doors leads you to out of the way, quiet places--interesting spots that not all visitor find. It will give you a much richer experience of Gamla Stan--an experience beyond the ambience, shops, and restaurants. Don't go to Stockholm without it!

The book is soft-covered and 32 pages long. Dimensions are about 8 by 6 inches (about 21 by 15 cm)--just the right size for accompanying you on your tour of the Old Town!

Terry Leblanc is a Swedish-American artist living in Stockholm. She has been fascinated for many years with the architecture of Stockholm's Old Town, the origins of which go back to the 11th century. As an artist, she uses a mixed media technique, combining photographic elements, digital tools and handwork.
